Metropolitan Museum of Art Trip January 2012
A recent Young Adult Literacy trip was to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The unanimous favorite was the Egyptian Art wing, where students got to see mummies and learn a little about religious and burial practices of the ancient Egyptians. Their excitement and interest can best be summed up with the words of one student “The art of the mummies were so fascinating, beautifully amazing….It’s just so fantastic.” Besides Egyptian tombs, mummies, and temples, students also looked at ancient Greek sculpture, Armaments from European and American history, and the new American Wing.
