Introduction to Credit Cards
Making credit work for you!

Credit cards can be very useful.  They can help you buy what you need when you need it. They can also help you build a credit history- a record of paying bills.  A good credit history is important if you want to buy a house or a car.   But credit cards can also lead to serious financial problems if you are not careful.  It is important to understand credit so that you don't go into debt!  In this lesson you will learn about:

-credit cards and and credit ratings
-the advantages and dangers of using credit cards
-good habits for using credit cards
-how to build and protect your credit history
-how to understand your credit report -and how to get a copy!
-how to choose the right credit card for you
       

Before You Begin  
Answer the questions. Discuss your answers with a partner.

1.  What is a credit card? 
2.  What do you already know about credit cards?
3.  What credit card names do you know?
4.  Have you ever received credit card offers in the mail?
5.  Do you have a credit card? Did you have one in your country?
6.  Do you think credit cards are good to have? Why? or Why not?
